Scott J began his musical career as a horn player, studying with veterans of the Fillmore jazz scene in San Francisco, his home town, where he additionally learned the art of the upright bass. Acting on a recommendation from Carlos Santana, a local acquaintance at the time, he readily transitioned to the electric bass.
As a young professional, Scott played with many popular Bay Area Top 40 dance bands, and became active in the San Francisco New Wave scene, backing numerous headline performers, and receiving significant radio airplay.
Relocating to SoCal, Scott played with the House Band at the Buckhorn Lodge on Mt. Baldy for many years, and has since performed with Sammy Hagar, Pat Travers, and several premier Funk, Rock, and Country bands.
Scott brings a solid, punchy, in-the-pocket bass playing style to Rodeo Revival, and is a key member of the dynamic rhythm section on which the band is built.
